My Dearest Andrew,

My lungs require an extra deep breath, as I sit here to write you this little token of love. A gigantic, nostalgic sigh as I sail away to the beginning of Us– all those nights I’d stay up, restless in bed, under a mess of white sheets, with the sound of Ryan Adams serenading my racing heart, that old brown journal in hand, searching for words to give to you, words that could do justice for the feelings that were just starting to take my heart captive.

I loved writing to you, and imagined you reading my thoughts out loud, thousands of miles away, underneath a little yellow light [...]

Just two hours before Andrew asked me to marry him, I spent time exploring Casper’s Park with these two lovely birdies:
Two lovely birdies who are currently working towards building one treasured nest.
At the time, I wasn’t yet engaged, and could only imagine what they must feel–
These days spent preparing for the epic merging of hearts.
Walking amidst the growing greens turned golden, I breathed deeply, inhaling what was alive and natural around me:
For a stem, a flower,
For a boy, a girl.
In their company, the time passed unhurriedly. I noticed the turning of minutes not by a clock watched, but by the shadows cast by a sun now melted into hills beyond [...]

These are my dear, dear friends:

And they have a story that has challenged me, immensely.
Upon blogging their pictures, I must admit, I was a bit uncertain about what I’d write… not because there isn’t enough, but because there is too much.
So I’ll just settle with this, “Congrats, you two!”

Remember the Delicious Couple?
After spending the day shooting their engagement session at Balboa Park in San Diego, I made my trek back to Orange County with Bon Iver serenading all the sweet moments they left in my mind. I sat there, on Super Bowl Sunday, in dreadful traffic, day dreaming about their story, and their future. I kept imagining what the coming years will look like for them, and I know this sounds silly, but I was thinking that this wouldn’t be the last Sunday we’d spend together.

After three promises made to her father, he hopped on a plane to London, with a diamond ring in his pocket, and four words on his mind:

I think I said the word “delicious” 50 times when shooting Brooke & Cody’s engagement session. Because truthfully, few adjectives describe them better. Flavorful. Mouth-watering. Exquisite. The kind of lovely that blows your mind.

You know when your heart bends a little bit, so much so that it actually hurts-so-good, because something someone said was just that striking? That’s what happened in conversation with Brooke while walking down Newport Street in Ocean Beach; she said a painfully endearing comment that resonated long after her sentence was finished. She’s extremely bright. She’s from Oregon, and Oregon obviously breeds cool people. She smiles like all the time. She wears cute stuff. She’s an extremely solid communicator. She knows what she wants. Her glass is half full. Her energy permeates a crowd. She loves Jesus, and hence, loves people even when they are hard to love. She has a good body. (What? She does). She is an incredible coffee date. (I know from experience, the Point Break cafe at Point Loma Nazarene University provided us ample amounts of caffeine and comfy couches for quality convo).
