Brooke & Cody are Engaged!

Remember the Delicious Couple?

After spending the day shooting their engagement session at Balboa Park in San Diego, I made my trek back to Orange County with Bon Iver serenading all the sweet moments they left in my mind. I sat there, on Super Bowl Sunday, in dreadful traffic, day dreaming about their story, and their future. I kept imagining what the coming years will look like for them, and I know this sounds silly, but I was thinking that this wouldn’t be the last Sunday we’d spend together.

My mind drifted off to a cul-de-sac, Cody playing catch with his kids in the front yard, Drew and I walking over with a pitcher of lemonade, while Brooke brings some extra chairs to the porch. I was thinking about how nice it would be to have neighbors like Brooke and Cody. I was thinking about the sort of kindness they exude, the sort of morals they live by, and how magnetic their company is.

The two of them exemplify neighborly love. If they were my neighbors, I’d have them over for dinner every Sunday. They’d probably get sick of my 3 dishes I know how to cook, but they’d always have an invitation, glass of wine, and conversation waiting for them. I just want to know them better. I want to know their hearts, because what they’ve showed me so far is too beautiful to only know a sliver of.

So in an attempt to taste more than just a sliver, I interviewed each of them. I asked them the same questions, and they weren’t allowed to see each other’s answers until they read this post.

Enjoy their fabulous engagement set, and a quick game of  He Says/ She Says:

The most romantic, yet simple gesture he/she does is…

Cody: One of them is when she get this big smile on her face and reaches out pulls me close and warmly says, “Come heeeeeere” and then kisses me.

Brooke: Gosh, what doesn’t he do? I love when he will surprise me at work with coffee or flowers.

I know many things will change, but I hope ____ stays the same…

Cody: I hope we never stop having fun and planting the seeds of joy and laughter in our relationship while also fervently seeking peace and restoration through forgiveness and understanding.

Brooke: Many things will change but I hope we will always be best friends who are madly in love.

My fiancé’s hot. Real hot. The physical feature that closed the deal was…

Cody: The warmth and life in her smile, and the way her face has this soft smile even when she isnt actually “smiling.”  She is the most gorgeous person I have ever and will ever know.

Brooke: Cody has beautiful eyes to match his beautiful heart.

There’s no one else who’d ___ for me.

Cody: Send me a continuous flow of encouraging text messages while I am at work and then leave a ‘good night voice mail’ for me so I have something sweet to listen to when I get out of the hospital in the late hours of the night.

Brooke: There’s no one else who would enjoy-and indulge- how many ‘what if’ questions I ask.

I knew I wouldn’t marry anyone else after…

Cody: I knew I had wanted to marry her for quite a while, but I knew my dream would actually come true the night we shared our hearts with each other on a hill over looking the vineyards of Alexander Valley at sunset.

Brooke: I’m not sure if there was a single, definitive moment in which I”knew” Cody was the one. I do remember, however, becoming deeply aware that the more I knew Cody’s heart and experienced his love, the better I understood God’s love for me, and that I would never want to live without either!

Three words to describe our first kiss…

Cody: Unexpected, Surprising, Exhilarating.

Brooke: Batman Begins, Perfect.
